EUROfusion and Fusion for Energy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the work together on fusion research and development. This agreement brings both partners closer in advancing key areas, including Test Blanket Module (TBM) systems and breeding blankets, DEMO design and related R&D, and the Broader Approach Projects—JT60-SA, IFMIF/EVEDA, and IFERC activities such as computational simulation, DEMO work, and remote experimentation.
The Memoradum of Understanding was signed by Marc Lachaise F4E Director and Ambrogio Fasoli EUROFusion Program Manager (CEO).
“It is time to formalise and take to a different level our partnership with F4E – we are the two main stakeholders in fusion in Europe, and share a common vision. The only way to progress along such vision is to work together – and embark together in the next exciting phase of fusion developments in Europe” said Ambrogio Fasoli, Programme Manager of EUROFusion
“The MoU builds on years of trust and reaffirms our commitment to the success of Europe’s fusion roadmap, together with our contribution to the delivery of fusion projects. We plan to capitalise on the experience and expertise of F4E and EUROfusion staff by fostering new synergies,” said F4E Director, Marc Lachaise.
The MoU also covers the collaboration on ITER operations and related research (including the Neutral Beams Test Facility), as well as technology development, commissioning, and installation of ITER equipment.
In addition, the two organizations will increase their efforts in knowledge management and training, ensuring expertise is shared and maintained.
This partnership is expected to boost the efficiency and impact of European fusion research, making a meaningful contribution to the success of Europe’s fusion energy roadmap.
