The E-TASC (EUROfusion – Theory and Advanced Simulation Coordination) General Meeting was held at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) from November 11 to 15, 2024. This event brought together nearly 80 leading researchers in the fields of theoretical and computational plasma science to discuss recent advancements in plasma and tokamak simulation code development.
A key focus of the meeting was the review of the E-TASC ecosystem, comprising 15 Theory, Simulation, Verification, and Validation projects (TSVVs) supported by 5 Advanced Computing Hubs (ACHs). The agenda also addressed significant topics, such as the benefits of open-source approaches, standards in software development, and tools and standards for data management.
The meeting fostered collaboration and streamlined efforts across the European fusion modeling community, tackling the most urgent scientific and engineering challenges, and bridging gaps in physics understanding, data, and predictive capabilities. New topics and ideas for the future development of E-TASC and Digital Solutions for ITER and DEMO have also been discussed.
