Operating a fusion device with deuterium-tritium plasmas. Foreseen mode of operation for fusion power plants. Normally, fusion experiments use deuterium-deuterium (D-D) reactions to avoid the complications that arise from working with radioactive tritium. Deuterium plasmas behave in a very similar way to deuterium-tritium mixtures.
JET is the only running fusion experiment capable of operating with D-T plasmas.
